How It Works

From our kitchen to your table

No sushi chef required. Here's exactly what happens between clicking "order" and rolling your first handroll.

How Unrolled works — simple ingredients, unforgettable nights
Step 1

Choose your kit & delivery window

Pick a kit from our menu, select same-day or scheduled delivery, and check out in under a minute. Order by 2pm for same-day delivery within our Charlotte delivery zone.

Step 2

We source that morning

Fish arrives from our partner suppliers the same day it's delivered — nothing sits in a warehouse. Our team hand-cuts each portion to order.

Step 3

Rice, seasoned and cooled

Short-grain rice is cooked, seasoned with rice vinegar, and cooled to the right temperature — the same process used at handroll counters.

Step 4

Packed cold, sealed tight

Everything is portioned into a leak-proof, insulated box with ice packs, keeping ingredients at a safe temperature for up to 6 hours in transit.

Step 5

Delivered to your door

A local courier brings your kit straight to your door within Myers Park, Eastover, Cotswold, Elizabeth, Dilworth, or South End — refrigerate immediately on arrival if you're not eating right away.

Step 6

Roll it yourself

Lay a nori sheet in your palm, add rice, layer your fillings, and fold into a cone. Eat immediately for the best crunch — that's the whole ritual.

Good To Know

What makes a great handroll

Warm rice, cold fish

Temaki is traditionally rolled with rice just above room temperature against cold, sushi-grade fish for the right contrast.

Roll and eat right away

Nori loses its crunch fast once it touches rice — that's why handrolls are made one at a time, not prepped ahead.

Less is more

Two or three fillings per roll keeps it foldable. Overfilling makes the cone fall apart — start light and add more next roll.
